Mainly Cross Stitch

I finished my cardigan and I’m happy with it and I’m sure I’ll wear it. I don’t think I’d go out of my way to choose the yarn again but I liked the pattern and would definitely choose it again if I wanted to make another cardigan.

I have been crocheting since, but to be honest my heart hasn’t been it it. The two main projects I’m working on I know will be stalled at some point as I’ll run out of yarn, and that in itself is enough to rob me of enthusiasm. I also can’t get it out of my head that I want to make the Fleur Sweater but that would entail me buying yarn which of course I can’t do because of my resolution. Having one’s crafting inclinations thwarted definitely has an effect on enthusiasm.

On top of that, I have definitely had my love for cross stitch resurrected. I remember well now how passionate I was about it. I had so many kits in my stash but a while back I dismantled all of them, put the threads with my stash, stowed the beads away somewhere and piled up the Aida and other cross stitch fabric. I’m sorry now that I did dismantle the kits. Even though my tastes have changed it would have been nice to start a beaded project.

I’ve been making really good progress with the Quaker SAL. I think I’m about three days ahead on it. I had to frog the Jane Austen one because of a one-stitch mistake. I could have probably gotten away with it but I know I would know the mistake was there and I’d rather not go through the effort only to be unhappy with it. I haven’t restarted it yet because I’m thinking of doing it on a different fabric with different thread. I started instead on a free design from Modern Folk Embroidery (pictured). I’m doing it in a lovely variegated blue on the same 14 count Aida as the SAL. It’s coming along well.

I ordered the threads for my cat project and they should arrive tomorrow. I think I’m going to do it on a 32 count (2 over 2) cream linen that I resurrected from my stash, mainly because it is already prepped on the edges (I was obviously very diligent back in the day). I am a little wary as to how it will go, given it’s my own design, so I will add to the WIP list a few other projects but not until I have finished the SAL and the other MFE project. I have a few ideas in mind including a potential kit purchase. There is something very appealing about a kit. The kit is “The Stargazer” which is a beaded cross stitch. I’m generally not keen on that particular type of design anymore but I was was watching a channel where the stitcher had just finished it and I literally gasped, it was so beautiful. So I’m thinking of adding it as WIP.

Anyway, that’s all the crafting news I have at the moment. My crafting life is good, and very satisfying
